Copper Alembic Still for Made on Maui Aromatics

Savage Designs is selling botanically-infused medicinal clothing at the UpCountry Farmer’s Market in Pukalani, Maui, HI. Each garment is lovingly hand-crafted with plants from the Hawaiian Islands. We are currently using white reclaimed garments on Maui, and dyeing them with concentrated plants dyes we harvest and prepare on Maui. We then mix aloe vera gel and our artisan essential oils and hydrosols, and massage these healing aromatics into the clothing. You will also receive a 5mL bottle of the essential oil and hydrosol blend, which compliments the clothing.

Inspired from a family experience in Algeria, with an auntie who nearly died during a bout in the early 60’s with strep throat. The infection had spread throughout the young girls body, and a severe allergy to penicillin had the family turning to a local medicine man for help. He used infused medicinal plants into cloth, curing my auntie and several other family members over the years. Years later, the family still holds this healing modality in high regard.

Medicinal Clothing also has a history dating back over 5,000 years, in a practice known as Ayurvastra. A dedicated branch of Ayurvedic medicine, this ancient practice of promoting healing through the use of concentrated medicinal plant dyes which have been infused into clothing, bedding, and home interior. Receiving medicine through the skin, which is the largest organ of our bodies, was researched during a 6-month clinical trial at the Government Ayurveda College in Thruvananthapuram, India. They also conducted a one-month study on its effects and both showed excellent results in the treatment of skin issues like psoriasis and eczema, as well as rheumatism and arthritis, which indicated the absorption of the medicine through the interface of the skin. Many pharmacologists and medical doctors agree that modern drugs can frequently be too powerful and toxic. We are firm advocates of balanced health care that uses the best of modern western medicine and alternative health care strategies to bring an individual into their fullest expression of health. Modern western medicine is good, and so are botanical medicines. Medicinal Clothing is the wave of the future.
