Savage Designs donates studio equipment to the Sew-op

Upon the closing of our Savage Designs sewing and design studio in Topanga Canyon, CA we decided to support our local non-profit….the Sew-op located in Venice, CA. The Sew-Opportunity is providing change in the world one stitch at a time by teaching local communities how to become sustainable and work as a community in completing design and fabrication of garments, home décor and textile creation. Everyone is invited to use the tools, materials, free assistance and inspiration of this creative environment.

Our juki straight stitch is for sale for $350, juki overlock is for sale for $475, and pegasus coverstitch is for sale for $700. We also have large cutting tables, a kick press and manicin’s. If you are interested in any of these please contact us. In the meantime we’re happy to help these folks make it happen!

Savage Designs temporarily closes its online store

We apologize to all our fans out there, and new customers interested in purchasing items from Savage Designs. We recently closed our Studio in Topanga Canyon, CA…where a small group of women lovingly hand-sewed all our garments. We are determined to survive in the midst of an economy in transition, and believe in the longevity and quality of our products, which are both good for us and the environment.

We expect to have our online store back in operation by mid-July. Stay tuned, as we’re hoping to coincide the re-opening of our online store with a marketing campaign directed at our LOHAS target market and the first airing of our Founder Sunny Savage’s cable television show ‘Hot on the Trail with Sunny Savage’.

Chumash Medicine Woman visits Savage Designs*

Ms. Cecilia Garcia is an amazing woman. A woman who has the courage & drive to step into the world with her ancient knowledge as a Chumash Medicine Healer. She is co-author a wonderful book with Dr. James Adams called ” Healing with Medicinal Plants of the West “.

She has become a dear friend to us at Savage Designs and we support her in getting her knowledge and healing out to the world. We’ve just helped her launch a new website: www.chumashmedicinewoman.com. There you find pictures of this incredible woman, her bio, and you can even contact Cecilia for herbal healing workshops and private sessions. Although she lives in Mexico, she comes to Los Angeles regularly.
